Susan DeMay is a native of New York then Florida, who moved to Tennessee to study art at the Appalachian Center for Craft. She earned the Bachelor of Arts degree from Eckerd College in St. Petersburg, Fla., the Master of Science degree from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tenn., and the Master of Arts degree from the Craft Center in Smithville, Tenn. DeMay maintains a studio in Smithville, where she creates her unique and original functional and non-functional pieces, which are marketed across the United States.                                                                                                             

DeMay says, “I explore the many possibilities of clay, not only for its many functional possibilities, but also for its potential for artistic expression. I have been working in clay for over 40 years, and I never get tired of it and still see many ideas that I want to try.”
