I became involved in the work of The Foundation because I believe in the work it is doing. I think The Foundation has the right approach to raising funds and to using contributions to benefit the hospital and its patients. Not only is The Foundation focused on equipment and facilities needs, it also helps patients and their families meet expenses they are unable to pay due to their inability to work while they are receiving medical treatments.
Often patients must travel long distances and have extended hospital stays that are a financial burden to them and their families. Catastrophic illnesses and injuries can cause extreme hardship. The Foundation is often able to help with financial obligations that are not covered by insurance.
CRMC is not the hospital that it was when I was growing up here. It has grown with our community into a first-class regional medical facility with services and specialties that rival services offered in Nashville and Atlanta. We are seeing individuals from all across our region choose CRMC for diagnosis and treatment, instead of going to metropolitan areas, because of its reputation for quality services.
As a businessperson, I am very aware of the tremendous growth our community has experienced and the medical needs that are required by our own residents. In order to keep pace with that growth we must continue to provide medical specialties and treatments that meet the needs of our residents right here in our own community. Our citizens shouldn't have to go to another city to obtain medical care and, thanks to the commitment of CRMC leadership and the work of The Foundation, they won't have to.
