Run The Cumberlands

07.01.19 - 10.01.19

If you're ready to run, Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation is ready to give you a reward.

Run the Cumberlands is a popular rewards program that connects many charitable races throughout the Upper Cumberland region. Now, it'll be hosted by the CRCF.

Foundation Director John Bell said the Foundation's board wanted to do more to promote healthier living.

The Foundation already sponsors the Summer Splash 5K, set for Saturday, June 22, then the Ride for the Sky, a cycling event later in the summer.

The Foundation saw taking over the Run the Cumberlands program as a natural extension of that idea.

The Run the Cumberlands begins with the Fiddler 5K in Smithville July 6. Other races include the Run-4-Don 5K and 15K in Gainesboro, Cookeville's Haunted Half marathon, Tennessee Tech's Golden Helix 5K, Cookeville's Turkey Trot 5K, the Cummins Falls Marathon, the Cumberland Mountain Triathlon in Crossville, and the Mountain Laurel 5K in Wartburg. The event ends with next year's Summer Splash 5K in Cookeville.

Bell said if you complete any four of those races within the year, you'll receive a medal. A special medal will be given to those who complete four races, including one half or full marathon.

Bell said the Foundation is still accepting races to participate in the year-long event. Participating races must be charity races, raising money for nonprofits, health or improvement initiatives, Bell said.
