Pet Therapy Volunteers

Raise Funds for Cancer Care

Cookeville, Tenn. - The Pet Therapy Fund of the Cookeville Regional Charitable Foundation has awarded its largest gift ever to the Cancer Center at Cookeville Regional.

The Pet Therapy Fund continues its efforts to support the Cancer Center by providing $6,000 to purchase My Personal Treatment Journals to be given to all patients of the Cancer Center.

This funding effort is a part of a larger community outreach effort by the Pet Therapy Program at CRMC. In addition to the pet-assisted visits to patients of the Cancer Center, the Pet Therapy Program visits area schools, has a monthly Read with the Pet Therapy Dog at the Putnam County Library, visits preschools and Senior Citizen groups to share the benefits of pet therapy in the healing process.

Fundraisers to assist in supporting patient needs in the Cancer Center include an exciting calendar that will be introduced on November 4, 2014 and personalized Christmas tree ornaments that will be sold on September 16 and October 16, 2014, in the main lobby of Cookeville Regional Medical Center. All three events will run from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. and feature the Pet Therapy Dogs.

A “ForEver Friends Tree” will be on display over the holiday season at Johnson Nursery. The tree will feature ornaments honoring pets, which will be on sale to help raise funds for Pet Therapy. One Hundred percent of the proceeds from these efforts go to the Pet Therapy Fund. For more information please visit us at
