Cookeville, Tenn. – The Pet Therapy Program at Cookeville Regional Medical Center is challenging local woodworkers, handyman and groups looking for a team building project to construct a doghouse for inclusion in the upcoming “Not Your Ordinary Tour of Homes” event.

Last year, the event featured 16 unique doghouses, which were sold at a silent auction to raise funds to provide personal care journals to Cancer Patients at CRMC. This year, “Not Your Ordinary Tour of Homes” will take place as part of the Upper Cumberland Home and Garden Show on March 13, 14 and 15 at Hyder-Burks Pavilion. Doghouses will be on display and available for purchase at the show.

“We are really excited about the new venue for the event, and are so appreciative of the Home and Garden Show for allowing us to be there. This is a real opportunity for lots of people in our community to learn about the Pet Therapy Program, and hopefully purchase some doghouses so we can raise funds to help cancer patients,” said MaryDell Sommers, Chair of the Pet Therapy Program.

MaryDell continued, “We have a handful of doghouses under construction already, and would really appreciate a few more organizations or individuals volunteering to build and donate a doghouse toward this cause.”

Individuals and organizations are encouraged to learn more about constructing and donating a doghouse for inclusion in “Not Your Ordinary Tour of Homes” by contacting MaryDell Sommers at ms66799@gmail.com or calling the Foundation office at 931-783-2003.
