Cookeville, TN – The Foundation at Cookeville Regional announces two grant awards to the Cancer Center.  The first grant of   $2050 from its Unrestricted Fund was used to compliment a grant from the Foundation’s Anne Cameron Fund to purchase a blanket warmer for patients in the Cancer Center.  The second grant of $2450 will be used in partnership with Cookeville Regional for staff education on tomotherapy planning.

“This past November the Foundation held a grant round with a commitment to award up to $25,000 in grants to Cookeville Regional from our Unrestricted Fund.  This fund gives our Board discretion in how we wish to support Cookeville Regional.  The Cancer Center is a huge asset to the people in the Upper Cumberland.  We were extremely pleased to see the diverse grant proposals come in from the Cancer Center,” said Kevin Bowling, Vice President of the Foundation at Cookeville Regional Board. “Often times we think that a grant for equipment or program needs means a big stainless steel tool.  These two grants help assure our patients that they are provided with the best care and comfort during their treatment time with us and that Cookeville Regional staff bring the highest quality of care because we value ongoing training and education .”

Lisa Bagci, Director of the Cancer Center, commented on the grant awards, “The Foundation through its Unrestricted Fund and its various specific funds has helped us maintain our goal of treating every patient individually.  We will see the impact of these grants every day a warm blanket takes the chill away from a patient receiving chemo therapy or a patient’s tomotherapy treatments are planned and conducted to best impact their cancer treatment.”

Paul Korth, Interim CEO/CFO at Cookeville Regional, talks about the Cancer Center and what it brings to the region, “The Cancer Center at Cookeville Regional is very important to the Upper Cumberland.  Being able to stay close to home while receiving treatment makes it easier on the patient and their family.  We are so fortunate that the Foundation has developed funds supporting the Cancer Center and have made the Cancer Center a priority. Cookeville Regional’s excellence in healthcare services will be greatly enhanced because of the generosity of the people, businesses and organizations who give to the Foundation.  We couldn’t be more grateful to our partners in health.”
