Cookeville, TN – The Foundation at Cookeville Regional announces a $1,000 grant from its Unrestricted Fund to the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center at Cookeville Regional for new patient mobility aid equipment.
Randel Wallace, Treasurer of the Foundation at Cookeville Regional Board, presented Cookeville Regional with the grant award highlighting the Foundation’s mission and commitment to excellence in healthcare in the Upper Cumberland. “This past November the Foundation held a grant round with a commitment to award up to $25,000 in grants to Cookeville Regional from our Unrestricted Fund. This fund gives our Board discretion in how we wish to support Cookeville Regional. As we partner with Cookeville Regional in providing the best healthcare in the Upper Cumberland, the Foundation is presented with highly technical opportunities to make a difference. With this grant award we were able to address an issue some might not see as highly technical, but one that directly impacts patient mobility and patient rehab. This equipment is vital to Cookeville Regional’s providing quality healthcare services.”
Warren Johnson, RN Director of Nursing and Therapy at the Inpatient Rehabilitation Center explained the need for “bariatric” lift equipment, “Utilizing Safe Patient Handling and working with many acutely ill patients, including many that are overweight or obese, we must have equipment that assists them, their therapists and nurses during their entire therapy program. This new equipment could benefit approximately fifty percent of the patients admitted to our program.”
Paul Korth, Interim CEO/CFO at Cookeville Regional, added, “Cookeville Regional is here to serve the people in the Upper Cumberland. We are very excited to be working with the Foundation to identify and acquire the equipment necessary for us to best serve our patients. Cookeville Regional’s excellence in healthcare services will be greatly enhanced because of the generosity of the people, businesses and organizations who give to the Foundation. We couldn’t be more grateful to our partners in health.”
